Bent Family Christmas 2005
Hi everyone! Here’s hoping you all had a wonderful Christmas with your families. We sure did! Even though we were missing the head of our household, Charley, we managed to have a great celebration.
We started off on Christmas eve with the Okagawa family, who are my daughter Malia’s in-laws.

Here we have Mr. Wench, Wench, Janet, Jimmy, and my son-in-law Jeff having pupu’s before dinner. All the pictures on the wall are Kai’s art work from school.

Here we have Wench, Kai, Mr.Wench, Malina, Malia, Marge and Jeff.

Here’s Kamalani, Kai and Malina with their finished gingerbread house.
Then came Christmas day with all of us having a ham flinging event! It was so nice having my children here, including my adopted ones, and our dear friends Btude and DB to celebrate such a happy occasion. Somber, but happy.
I worked hard in the morning getting the food prepared, while Kyle and Jeff set up the table out in the yard. And after the tables and chairs were set up, I hooked up my Karaoke machine.
Chris and Doyle brought the ham and the ingredients to make some Appletini’s, Malia and Jeff brought a onolicious Peach Bavarian cake, Kaos and his family brought some tropical juices and shrimp cocktail, Wired and Adam brought these 2 broke da mouth chocolate haupia cakes. I made some other hawaiian food like squid luau, kalua pig, and chicken longrice. We also had 3 different types of poke (raw fish), crab poke, raw crab, and lomi salmon. Very traditional hawaiian food.

A Very Heartfelt Thank You!
This is for my 2 AZ sisters 3T and Jade. I cannot express the feeling that’s in my heart for these 2 beautiful ladies and their families. All I can say is “I Love You” very much, and my family and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You have made this difficult time for me easier to handle because of all your kindness and support. You two are always bringing me to tears. And for the rest of you, this is why:

These are 2 of the gifts that 3T sent me and my family in the past 2 weeks. The floral bouquet came first and the XMas gifts came today. You are such a generous and beautiful lady! You have given me so much in the past few months, that I don’t know what to say. You have brought me so much joy in a time of great sorrow. I love you dearly.

And this is Jade’s precious gift which will be put into the scrapbook that we are making for Charley’s services and a keepsake for us. It brought me to tears when I saw and read it. It’s a beautiful keepsake ornament that says: Merry Christmas From Heaven, and on the back is inscribed, In Loving Memory, Charles K. Bent Sr, December 6, 1932-November 21, 2005. The ornament reads:
I love you all dearly,
Now don’t shed a tear,
I’m spending my Christmas
With Jesus this year
I cannot thank these two beautiful ladies enough. You have touched my life and my heart so deeply. And my prayer to our Heavenly Father is for him to bring us together in person, so that I can give the both of you the biggest ((((((HUGS))))) ever and to thank you face to face. You cannot fathom the impact you have made in my life. God bless you and your familes always.
Mahalo Nui Loa!
Merry Christmas From Heaven
I still hear the songs
I still see the lights
I still feel your love
on cold wintery nights
I still share your hopes
and all of your cares
I’ll even remind you
to please say your prayers
I just want to tell you
you still make me proud
You stand head and shoulders
above all the crowd
Keep trying each moment
to stay in His grace
I came here before you
to help set your place
You don’t have to be
perfect all the time
He forgives you the slip
If you continue to climb
To my family and friends
please be thankful today
I’m still close beside you
In a new special way
I love you all dearly
now don’t shed a tear
Cause I’m spending my
Christmas with Jesus this year

Congratulations!!
I would like to say congratulations on a job well done to two important people in my life.
The first one is my son-in-law, Mr. Wench. He graduated yesterday with a degree in Anthropology. So now, the Wench says on her blog that she can get a boob job. Proud of you, man! Good luck and the best to you in the future. See you tomorrow!
Second is my hanai daughter Wired. Yeah girl, finally!! It’s like you’ve been going to college forever. Nine long years! Whooohooo!! I’m also proud of you and wish you all the best. May you have a bright future in the world outside of books and teachers.
Can’t wait till Christmas day when we all get together for a ham flinging time! Ah…..I guess I gotta go get a ham. Most of my kids, adopted kids, grandkids and two very special friends BTude and DB will be here at my place. The Wench will be here with the Mr. Yes, even the Kaotic one will be here.
This is going to be a nice day for us cause it’s been a while since we’ve all gotten together. The last time was when the Wench and the Mr were leaving to go to Texas.
Although my heart is broken because my Charley is not physically here, I know he will be here in heart and spirit.
Ka manawa apau, aloha wau ia oe Kahae.

A Nice Surprise
Yesterday afternoon I got a phone call.
Me: Hello
Voice: Aunty Linda?
Me: Yes, speaking.
Voice: Aunty, you are not going to believe who this is.
Me: Well….Whom am I speaking to?
Voice: Aunty, this is Tootsy. Micki’s son.
Me: OMG! Where are you?
Voice: Aunty, I’m here in Honolulu. I work for Moanalua Mortuary. I was the one that did Uncle Charley’s cremation. I didn’t know it was Uncle until I saw the picture of him that they were enlarging for you. I didn’t recognize Uncle cause he got so old. When I saw the picture, I knew right away who it was and told my co-workers that this was my Uncle who I grew up with when I was a child growing up in Hilo. Aunty, I’m so sorry. When you come to pick up the picture, please have the office call me so I can see you. You won’t recognize me cause I’m 6′ 6″ tall and weigh 200 lbs.
Me: OMG! I don’t know whether to call you Louis or Tootsy.
Voice: Aunty, you call me what you’ve always called me all my life.
Me: I am so glad you called me, and so happy that you were the one to take care of Uncle.
This made my heart feel good knowing that someone whom I took care of and knew his whole life, took care of my husband Charley for his cremation.
Tootsie is now 30 years old. I last saw him in the mid 1980’s when he was still a young boy. It was a real joy for me to hear his voice on the other end of the phone. So we talked awhile and I got to see him today when I picked up Charley’s picture. It brought me to tears. Tears of happiness for seeing this boy after all these years, and tears of sadness because my husband is not here anymore.
He called his Mom Micki last night and told her about what happened, and it shocked her a bit. But I will get to see her the day after Christmas, because she will be here to visit. We have so much catching up to do cause it’s been a while.
Micki and I go way back, and have been through so much together. Her husband was a classmate of mine, so we’re talking the 60’s. We laughed, played and cried together. Micki and I were joined at the hip, and we spent everyday together. Her family and ours. This reunion with someone so dear to me will be so wonderful at such a somber time like this. I thank God for making this happen. God does work in mysterious ways. He knew how difficult a time I am having with my husband’s passing, so he let this remarkable thing happen. Thank you Lord for my salvation, and for my wonderful family and friends. Please watch over my darling husband and take care of him for me. I miss him so much.

A Song From My Husband…..Dec. ‘77
This is a song my darling Charley wrote me in the year 1977. He then let a children’s group called Na Opio O Kuhio record this the following year. It is a cute and easy song for children to learn. I would like to share the words with you. We will record this someday on our own. I now pass this song on to all my grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This song is now for you my precious family. I love you with all my heart.

WHAT CAN I GIVE YOU FOR CHRISTMAS
What can I give you for Christmas?
Santa doesn’t have it in his bag
What can I give you for Christmas?
Only my love on a Christmas tag
Bridge:
I can’t buy you jewels
Or other priceless gems
I don’t even have
The price to sew my hems
So, what can I give you for Christmas?
Only my love, and may God bless
Only my love, and may God bless
